Prime Minister of Grenada, the Honorable Dickon Mitchell conducted an official site tour of the Grenada National Resort construction site on 2 October. Developed by Heng Sheng International, GNR is the largest Citizenship by Investment (CBI)-approved project in Grenada, located in the spectacular north of the island, near Levera beach.
The landmark resort is set to establish a new benchmark for luxury tourism and residential investment in the Caribbean. It will feature world-class amenities, including a hotel with 500 ocean-view suites, an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones II, a casino complex – as well as apartments and villas available for purchase.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by a group of senior government officials, including Finance Minister, the Honorable Dennis Cornwall; Chairman of Grenada’s Investment Migration Agency (IMA), Richard Duncan OBE; and Chief of Staff in the Prime Minister’s Office, Teddy St. Louis.
The government’s delegation was hosted by Heng Sheng Chairman Yuanfa Li, who provided a comprehensive tour of the expansive site, where construction efforts are powered by a daily workforce of more than 130 personnel.
Prime Minister Mitchell praised the project’s advancement. “I visited in March, but I didn’t expect such rapid progress in just six months. It has greatly exceeded my expectations,” Mitchell said.
“I am delighted and reaffirm the government’s strong support of this project,” Mitchell continued. “This project will bring a transformative impact on both local employment and tourism for northeast Grenada and the entire nation.”
The delegation’s positive assessment was echoed by Chairman Duncan. “As the head of Grenada’s Investment Migration Agency, I follow this project closely,” he said. “With each visit I make to the site, my confidence and appreciation for the project grow stronger. Seeing the tangible progress and the dedication of the Heng Sheng team has been remarkable.”
The tour showcased construction moving forward at full pace, with major milestones being reached across the site. The golf club structure is now fully complete, the casino foundation is in place, and the 18-hole championship golf course is beginning to take shape.
The concrete structure for the first 10 floors of Hotel Tower 1 has been completed, with formwork for the 11th floor in place. “Throughout the construction process, we are continuously optimizing the efficiency of concrete pouring and superstructure assembly,” explained Yuanfa Li.
“This will allow the overall construction pace to accelerate while maintaining the highest quality standards. We are on track for Hotel Tower 1 to be topped out before the end of this year,” Li continued.
The Prime Minister’s visit underscores the strong partnership between the Government of Grenada and Heng Sheng, a collaboration focused on delivering a landmark project that will not only redefine luxury tourism in the region but also create a lasting and positive economic legacy for the people of Grenada.
